JackReacher_Pike_mh_101712Review: went to see this film this week expecting it to live up to the Hype, it didn’t. This film is based on the 2005 book by Lee Child called “one Shot” which was adapted into this film; I did however read “Killing Floor” and “Tripwire” from the late 90’s. The pace and the detail in the books written by Child is lost in this film. I know that a lot of people have gone on about the height difference between the character of Reacher and cruise but this shouldn’t matter as this kind of anomaly happens all the time, for example in the original book of “I Am Legend” by Richard Matheson the character Robert Neville was a white guy, last time I looked Will Smith was black!

This film just lacked momentum it’s a great story, well panned out and acted characters believable, to a point, however the Character of Jack Reacher pretty much stayes as an enigma with very little background being given to him at all, the film is just very stop, start just as you get in to a chase scene were all sat round a table talking or the camera man is trying to get down Rosamund Pikes top with his lens, not that I’m complaining ;o)

There was a welcome cameo from Robert Duvall who I haven’t seen in anything since “the Road” in 2009 so nice to see his talents are being used if only briefly

So what can I say about the film? Weeeeeeellllllllll it’s taken from a great series of books, well directed and acted, if you like your action films with plenty of talking then this one is for you, would I go and watch it again? … no I wouldn’t just because it’s just not as fast paced as the books  but Tom Cruise fans will Love it as it is a pure Tom Cruise film.
